Our bees are in danger. The diligent bees lack work because there are less and less bee-friendly plants. This is not only bad for the bees but also bad for us.

Bees are not only famous for their delicious honey: Without them we would miss much more. For instance rapeseed, cucumbers, strawberries, cherries, plums, apples and pumpkins are largely dependent on their pollination. Leaving us with potatoes, corn and cereals, because they can mostly pollinate themselves. This would make a balanced, healthy diet difficult.

To prevent this from happening, we must help the bees, as they are an important part of our ecosystem. They are the third most important farm animal after cattle and pig!*

Beautiful, fragrant and bee-friendly: rosemary is also good on the balcony or in the small garden.

How you can help the bees:

On the balcony or in your garden you can plant bee-friendly and beautiful flowers. For example, bellflower, fan flower, verbena, vanilla flower, peacock broccoli, masculine litter or hellebore.

But also delicious kitchen herbs, such as lavender, savory, thyme, mint, basil, chives or lemon balm help. Please keep in mind not to cut off the flowers when harvesting, otherwise the bees will have none of it.

Small wooden branches in Bördy XL

Tip: Thirsty bees are stuck to wooden skewers or small branches in the Bördy and find out quickly after the drinking break

To all of you who use our watering devices Bördy, Froggy or Copa outdoors:

Bees and other insects love our watering helper for a little refreshment now and then, but it is sometimes very difficult for them to get out again. A fan has given us the tip to put wooden skewers in the openings. So our guests can fly in and out without any problems. Great idea, isn’t it? The bees will thank you.

By the way, did you know that bees really enjoy going to the sauna?

This is no joke, as sweating makes the bee stronger and healthier and kills its biggest enemy, the Varroa mite. That’s why a Bavarian company builds a special sauna just for bees.

You have other tips for bee-friendly plants? Write it in the comments.
